What is co-op housing?
Housing co‑ops provide at-cost housing for their members. They are controlled by members who have a vote in decisions. There is no outside landlord.

Is co-op housing, social housing?
Co-op housing is not public housing. Co-ops are self-governed, mixed-income communities, home to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Do co-ops allow people that are not low income?
Co-ops allow people of all incomes to live affordably in cities.

Do co-ops provide subsidized housing?
Most housing co-ops in BC are non-profit co-ops with a rental (not equity) model of housing. The members are typically people who want to live in a mixed-income community where they have a voice and a vote in decisions affecting their housing.

What qualifications are you looking for in members?
As a co-op member, you have security of tenure. That means you can live in your home for as long as you wish if you follow the rules of the co-op and pay your housing charges on time.

Is being in a co-op the same as living in any apartment building?
Most housing co-ops are nonprofits. Whether in urban or rural settings, they generally are housed in apartment-like buildings. Instead of obtaining a mortgage to purchase a home you can resell — such as a condo, house or townhome — you buy a share in a nonprofit co-op housing corporation and pay a monthly housing fee.

What are the responsibilities of a member?
As a co-op member, you have security of tenure. That means you can live in your home for as long as you wish if you follow the rules of the co-op and pay your housing charges on time. We require all members to volunteer your skills a minimum of 4 hours per month

What type of deposit does one need to put down?
Bachelor share buy in = $1000
1 bedroom share buy in = $1300
2 bedroom share buy in = $1500

Does this type of housing fall under the Rental Act?
No we run under the Co-op Act of Canada.

Does this co-op allow kids?
No, we are an adult only co-op.

Is the area safe?
Yes

Are 1 or 2 bedrooms available?
No bachelor units only. The 1 bed and 2 beds are for internal moves.

How long do you keep applications on file?
1 year. If you have not been contacted after a year, please reapply.
